Budget Piggy Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
In short: we collect what we need to run your account and keep your budgets in sync, we don't sell your information, and you can delete your account and your data from inside the app at any time.
1. Who we are
Budget Piggy ("the app") is made by Live Again (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us"), a company based in Pretoria, South Africa. We are the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA").
Contact us about privacy at katleho@liveagain.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and password, or your name, email and profile picture if you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Profile details: your name, bio and phone number, if you choose to add them.
- Budgeting information: your salary amounts, budgets (names, icons and amounts), and the income and expenses you record, including any notes you add.
- Messages to us: anything you send us, such as support emails or beta feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Push notification token: an identifier for your device so we can send you notifications, such as budget alerts and reminders.
- Advertising information: if you see ads, our advertising partner may collect device identifiers and information about how you interact with ads (see section 5).
- Subscription information: if you subscribe to Budget Piggy Premium, details of your purchase such as the plan, price, currency, free trial, renewal and cancellation dates. Payment itself is handled by Apple: we never see or store your card or bank details.
- Technical information: basic information such as your device type, operating system version and crash details, used to keep the app working.
We do not connect to your bank, and we do not collect bank account or card details.
3. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and sign you in.
- To store and sync your salary, budgets and transactions across your devices.
- To send notifications you can control, such as budget alerts, spending reminders and weekly summaries.
- To provide Premium features to subscribers, and to check whether a subscription is active, in a free trial, renewed or cancelled.
- To show ads in the free version of the app.
- To fix problems, keep the app secure, and improve it.
- To respond to you when you contact us, and to invite beta testers to interviews if they agreed to this.
We process your information because it is necessary to provide the app to you, because you have consented (for example to notifications or personalised ads), or for our legitimate interest in running and improving the app.
4. Google and Apple sign-in
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay address if you choose to hide your email).
We use this information only to create your account and sign you in. Budget Piggy's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell this information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers that help us run the app.
5. Advertising
The free version of Budget Piggy shows ads provided by Google AdMob. Google may use device identifiers and information about your app usage to show and measure ads. On iPhone, personalised ads are only shown if you allow tracking when asked; you can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before ads are personalised.
Your salary, budgets and transactions are never shared with advertisers. Learn more in how Google uses information for ads.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the app, under agreements that require them to protect it:
- Supabase: secure hosting for your account, profile and budgeting data.
- Google Firebase: delivering push notifications.
- RevenueCat: managing Premium subscriptions. RevenueCat receives a random account ID (not your name or email), your purchase and subscription details from Apple, and basic technical information such as your country, app version and device type. It never receives your budgets, salary or transactions. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- Google AdMob: showing ads (see section 5).
- Google and Apple: signing you in, if you choose these options, and distributing the app through TestFlight and the App Store. Apple also processes subscription payments under its own terms and privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
7. Where your information is stored
Your budgeting information is stored on your device so the app works offline, and in our hosted database so it syncs across your devices. Some of our service providers store information on servers outside South Africa. When this happens, we rely on providers that are bound by data protection laws or agreements offering protection similar to POPIA.
8. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, your account, profile, salary, budgets and transactions are permanently deleted from our database, and signing out removes them from your device. Backups kept by our hosting provider are overwritten on their normal schedule. Records of purchases may be kept for longer where tax or accounting law requires it. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
9. Keeping it safe
Information is sent over encrypted connections, and access to your data is limited to your own account. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, and will notify you and the Information Regulator if a breach affects you, as POPIA requires.
10. Your rights and choices
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- ask us to correct or update it (you can edit most details yourself in the app);
- ask us to delete it, or delete your account yourself in More → Delete Account;
- object to certain processing, and withdraw consent you have given, such as for notifications (in your phone's settings) or ad tracking;
- complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
To make a request, email katleho@liveagain.app. We may need to confirm your identity first.
11. Children
Budget Piggy is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in the app or by email.
